Monitor noise and enforce quiet hours

Operations Device Automation Center Automations Noise protection~5 min to configure
Connect a noise sensor to a property and the system watches the sound level continuously. When it stays above your limit during quiet hours it texts the guest, calls them if it continues, then alerts your team. Sound level only — no audio is ever recorded.

    Steps

    6 steps
    1. 1Open Device Automation Center Integrations and connect the sensor account. Once it appears under Needs mapping, assign it to the right property it will then show under that property with Sensors 1.
    2. 2Go to Automations Noise protection Edit. Set the quiet-hours window (10 PM to 8 AM is the common default) and a decibel limit for quiet hours and for daytime.
    3. 3Set how long the level must stay above the limit before anything fires. Ten minutes is a good default it ignores a slammed door while still catching a real problem.
    4. 4Review the escalation steps: a courtesy text to the guest, an automated call if it continues, then an alert to your team. Turn off any step you don't want.
    5. 5Click Run simulation. It reads the property's real sensor data and shows you what it would do right now without sending anything.
    6. 6Save. The automation runs every few minutes from then on, and Last run shows when it was checked.

    If something's off

    • If you want to know why the guest wasn't texted during the day — guests are only contacted during quiet hours by design. A daytime breach still opens an incident and still alerts your team, but no message goes to the guest, because there is no defensible rule about how loud a guest may be in the afternoon.
    • If the guest doesn't respond and the level stays up — open their conversation the sidebar shows the live level and the open incident and call them from the thread so the call is logged against the booking.
    • If a guest asks whether they are being recorded — tell them no. The sensor measures loudness only and cannot capture speech or audio of any kind.
    • If the reading looks suspiciously quiet — check the Online badge on the noise card first. An offline sensor reports nothing, and the system treats silence as quiet on purpose so a flat battery never wakes a guest.
    • If you were expecting an occupancy or headcount alert — occupancy is not part of this. Noise sensors report sound level, temperature and humidity only crowd or people-counting features in a manufacturer's own app do not flow into your workspace.
    • If you need to permanently remove a device from the fleet — use the 'Remove from fleet' option in the Device Automation Center. This action is irreversible and will take the device out of the fleet permanently.
